Group coaching principles

Torch Group Coaching isn’t just one more meeting, it’s your go-to space to grow, connect and tackle challenges. It’s a trusted space to explore shared opportunities, brainstorm ideas and solve problems with others. Through organic conversations you’ll unlock insights that you wouldn’t have discovered on your own. While every coach will have their own style, methods, and tools, this is what you can expect from all Torch group coaching programs:

  • Interactive discussions with an experienced coach who guides the conversation and sparks insight.

  • Real-world application of concepts tailored to your unique work situation.

  • Peer feedback that offers fresh perspectives and valuable viewpoints.

  • A safe, confidential space where you can show up as your authentic self.

  • Support and connection from fellow professionals who are here to grow with you.

How group coaching works

Want to know more specifics about what to expect? Get answers to your questions about how group coaching sessions will be structured, who will be included in your group, and what the experience will be like below.

Timing

  • Sessions are 60 minutes long and take place bi-weekly over 3 months or monthly over 6 months.

  • Your program will include 6 sessions: An intro session, 4 deep-dive topical sessions geared toward your overall program’s theme (for example, in a program themed around Manager Essentials, one of these sessions may be focused on a topic like “Developing Others and Giving Feedback”), and a wrap-up session.

Group

  • Your group will include up to 7 other participants, plus a Torch Coach experienced in group facilitation.

  • Group members will typically be at your same professional level and share common experiences or challenges.

Experience

  • Sessions are primarily participant-led and revolve around peer-to-peer learning. Your coach will spend 20% of the time introducing the topic and guiding the conversation, while the other 80% will be spent discussing, questioning, and reflecting with the participants in your group.

  • Topics and content are curated around your organization’s key business priorities and connected from session to session.

  • You’ll be expected to complete three surveys throughout your group coaching program to gauge how it’s going with your coach and group, and measure behavior change and program effectiveness.

  • Depending on your organization, you may also participate in 1:1 coaching before, at the same time as, or after completing group coaching.

The benefits of group coaching

By participating in group coaching, you’ll:

  1. Grow professionally: Take your career to new heights with the power of shared learning. You’ll gain new insights and skills that push your professional development forward.

  2. Solve problems together: Tackle challenges as a group. Share your experiences, learn from others, and discover solutions that wouldn’t have emerged from facing challenges alone.

  3. Expand your network: Build real, lasting connections with fellow group members. Their unique perspectives will broaden your horizons and offer valuable support long after the sessions end.

  4. Master key skills: Strengthen the leadership and collaboration skills that’ll help you shine in any setting. Whether it’s communication, decision-making, or problem-solving, you’ll walk away ready for anything.
