Understanding Surveys in Torch Coaching Programs

One of the key ways Torch helps you measure ROI and assess the success of your coaching program is through surveys. Depending on the length of your coaching program, participants will complete up to three different types of surveys: the Coach Compatibility Survey, the Coaching Experience Survey, and the Coaching Impact Survey. Review this article to learn more about the purpose of and data collected in each, as well as when participants will complete surveys within your program.

Coach Compatibility Survey

The Coach Compatibility Survey is completed by participants after they have met with their coach at least once. It collects participant feedback on their satisfaction with their coach and initial coaching experience. In the Partnership Path, the survey is available after the first meeting is complete. This survey has two questions and takes approximately one minute to complete.

There is no required number of responses to see the survey results. To do so, follow these steps to navigate to the Program surveys page. You can access the results from the Partnership surveys section by clicking Important survey: Coach compatibility.

Coaching Experience Survey

The Coaching Experience Survey is completed by participants after they have met with their coach two to four times. It assesses how a participant feels about their coaching engagement and if they are satisfied with their coach match. In the Partnership Path, the survey is placed in Month 3 of the engagement. This survey has seven questions and takes approximately one minute to complete.

There is no required number of responses to see the survey results. To do so, follow these steps to navigate to the Program surveys page. In the Survey results section, the "Coach NPS" and "Coach satisfaction score" are based on questions asked in this survey. You can access the full results in the Partnership surveys section by clicking Important survey: Coaching experience.

NOTE: No action items are triggered based on the Coaching Experience Survey results. We recommend proactively reviewing the responses and checking-in with participants who have lower engagement levels or may want to be rematched.


Coaching Impact Survey

The Coaching Impact Survey collects self-reported participant feedback on a broad range of topics to gain deeper insights into the participant experience. The results provide data on which areas in their life or work participants have changed, to what extent, and if they have noted any business benefits from coaching.

In the Partnership Path, this survey is completed by participants after every four months of coaching. In a 6-month engagement, there’s a Coaching Impact Survey in month five. In a 12-month engagement, there are Coaching Impact Surveys in month five and in month nine. The same survey is completed at both intervals.

NOTE: For a 3-month engagement, participants do not complete Coaching Impact Surveys, as no demonstrable behavior change is expected in this timeframe.

This survey has 14 questions and takes approximately six minutes to complete.

Anonymous results are accessible after at least one participant has completed the survey. To access the results, follow these steps to navigate to the Program surveys page. In the Survey results section, the “Coach NPS” is based on the coach recommendation rating question, and the “Coachee feedback” pulls from written responses submitted in this survey.


NOTE: Participants will answer the coach recommendation rating question in both the Coaching Experience Survey and the Coaching Impact Survey. The Coach NPS metric incorporates the most recent response to the question from each participant.
