Learning the Basics

What browsers are supported?

Torch video supports the following browsers on Windows, MacOS, and Linux:

  • Chrome

  • Firefox

  • Safari

  • Edge

  • Other Chromium-based browsers: Opera, Brave, Arc, and Vivaldi

For the best meeting experience, update to the latest browser version.

Do I need to install any software?

Nope! A Torch video meeting will open as a new tab in your browser. There is no application you need to install, as long as you’re using a supported browser.

Do video meetings work on mobile?

Yes. While we don't recommend joining from a mobile device for the best meeting experience, if you do need to join on the go, use Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge for an iOS device, and Chrome, Firefox or Edge for Android.

Keep in mind that you are responsible for all carrier charges and costs incurred in connection with using data to join a meeting on mobile. Torch does not have any liability for and does not reimburse for these charges and costs.

Scheduling Meetings

How can I reschedule a meeting?

If you need to reschedule a meeting you’ve scheduled with your coach, follow these steps. If your coach scheduled the meeting and you cannot attend, contact your coach via the in-platform messaging feature (accessible from the Messages tab in the top navigation bar) to reschedule, or decline the invitation.

Can I set up recurring meetings with my coach?

Yes! While scheduling a meeting, check the “Make this a recurring meeting” box at the top-right of the Date and Time section. Then use the dropdown menus to select the frequency (every week, every other week, or every 4 weeks) and duration of the recurring meeting series (ending after 2, 3, or 4 occurrences, or at the end of your program).

NOTE: You can schedule meetings up to 200 days (approximately 6.5 months) in advance or through your partnership’s end date, whichever comes first. When you set up a recurring meeting series, meetings will only be scheduled this far out, regardless of your selected duration for the meeting series.

Attending a Meeting

How do I join a meeting?

You can join a meeting by clicking the link in the accompanying calendar event on your personal calendar or the reminder email in your inbox. Or, from the Torch Home dashboard, click the “Join meeting” button in the Meetings section on the right. The “Join meeting” button will appear 15 minutes prior to the meeting start time. For more information on joining a meeting and allowing access to your camera and microphone, reference this article.

When can I enter the meeting room?

The meeting room will open 15 minutes before the meeting start time. You can join the meeting room at any time from 15 minutes before the scheduled meeting start time until the scheduled meeting end time.

Do I need to be logged in to Torch to join a meeting?

Yes. As a coaching participant, you must be signed in to the Torch platform in order for a meeting link to correctly launch the video meeting. Upon clicking a meeting link from your personal calendar or email inbox, you will be automatically prompted to log in to the Torch platform if you are not already logged in.

NOTE: If you’ve invited your manager or another internal stakeholder to a manager alignment meeting, they will be able to join the meeting without logging in.

Will I be kicked out of the meeting room at the meeting end time?

No. If your meeting runs long, you will not be automatically removed from the room until 25 minutes after the scheduled meeting end time. However, if you leave the room, you cannot rejoin after the meeting's scheduled end time.

Is my meeting being recorded?

Torch does not record meetings. However, we cannot prevent other attendees from using tools to record them. While you may see a record-like icon in your browser, this is to represent that your video and screen sharing are enabled, not that your meeting is being recorded.

I accidentally closed the meeting browser tab/window. What should I do?

Don't worry. If you're still within the scheduled meeting timeframe, you can use the link in the calendar invite to re-open the meeting page and you will be able to re-join the meeting. You can also re-join the meeting from your Torch Home dashboard by clicking Join meeting under Meetings on the left. The time you are present in the meeting room will be logged, even if you leave the room in the middle of the meeting.

A user I don’t recognize joined the meeting. What should I do?

Some meeting participants (particularly those in sales or customer-facing roles) may use third-party software that automatically joins and records meetings. If you see a seemingly anonymous user join a meeting, first check if any participant is using such software. If so, ask them to manually stop the recording. If not, contact Torch Support and report this behavior immediately.

Managing Meetings

How can I view and manage my meetings?

You can view and manage your meetings from the Torch platform. To do so, from the Home dashboard, click View all in the Meetings section on the right. Here you can view and manage your meetings, including scheduling, RSVPing, editing or rescheduling, and cancelling a meeting. Keep in mind that all changes to coaching meetings should be made from the Torch platform.

Will changes to a calendar event on my personal calendar sync to the Torch platform?

No. Changes you make to calendar events on your personal calendar do not sync to the Torch platform. This includes changing the date or time of a meeting as well as deleting a meeting entirely. All changes to coaching meetings should be made directly on the Torch platform by following these steps.

Why are meetings not showing up on my personal calendar?

In some cases, in order for a calendar event to display on your personal calendar (particularly when using an email alias), you will need to open the scheduling confirmation email and accept the invite first. Depending on your email provider, you may need to then open the .ics file attached to the email to add the event to your calendar.

If you are not seeing a meeting on your calendar, the event may not have been added properly. Follow these steps to manually add a meeting to your personal calendar.
